Pengerang Refining Company Sdn Bhd and Pengerang Petrochemical Sdn Bhd (collectively known as PRefChem) are two joint ventures formed from the strategic alliance of two of the world’s largest and most successful national oil companies – Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), the national oil company of Malaysia, and Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia.
The design inspiration relates back to the nature of the petroleum industry, sleek modern industrial concept blended together with the idea of transforming the essence of metal scaffolding which is the crucial and basic element of construction. The elements are showcased in the interior by manipulating slanted lines and extruded elements in vertical elevations, most prominently at the reception backdrop as to create a strong first impression.
The office area and support spaces are kept fairly simple with minimalist design infused with the highlight of PRefChem corporate colours. The main intention is to create a fully functional and easy to maintain office environment.
